The Market at Grelen wedding venue in Somerset, VA, is a stunning location that offers both indoor/outdoor locations for your ceremony and reception. Tucked quaintly into the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, the venue also doubles as Grelen Nursery, a sprawling 1,000 acre farm that is overflowing with plants, shrubs, and trees. Grelen also offers a European-style garden shop, farm-to-table cafe, over 5 miles of serene hiking trails, cider, beer, wind, and a seasonal pick-your-own farm. All of this combined makes The Market at Grelen a wonderful choice of a Virginia weekend wedding getaway.

Hi! I’m Jalisa – a DMV film wedding photographer who is so luck to get to work at extravagant venues throughout the DMV every weekend. I thought it would be a fun idea to share some of these venues with you too! The Market at Grelen Wedding Cost and Capacity Information

Like most DMV wedding venues, the pricing for a Market at Grelen wedding varies by day of weak and season. Thankfully, The Market at Grelen is one of the wonderful venues that shares their pricing and availability directly on their site! For Peak Season (April 15 – June 30, September 15 – November 14) couples should expect to spend between $10,500 – $16,000. For Shoulder Season (April 1 – April 14, November 15 – November 30), the cost ranges from $9,500 – $13,000. And for Low Season (July 01 – September 14, March, and December), couples can expect the cost to be between $6,500 – $9,000. Based on The Market at Grelen’s current wedding brochure, they are currently booking weddings from 2025 through 2027.

Regardless of your chosen ceremony, cocktail, and reception space, the venue’s maximum capacity is 250 people.

  • Tables, chairs, barrel bars, power, and parking.

Ceremony Spaces

The Market at Grelen offers numerous ceremony spaces to chose from, all distinctly different but keeping to the natural beauty the venue embraces.

Half Moon Garden

The ceremony photos included in this blog were taken in April at the Half Moon Garden. Centrally located, the Half Moon Garden is easily accessible and is surrounded by lush greenery. Perfectly positioned at back curvature of the garden is a weeping cherry tree that serves as a breathtaking backdrop. In April, the tree was just starting to bloom and the sunlight perfectly filtered through it.

The Berry Lawn

The Berry Lawn is a wide field with real, blooming berries in the background. This romantic backdrop may better accommodate a larger crowd as the seating can be more spread out.

The Greenhouse

The Greenhouse is exactly that – a ceremony space inside the Grelen Nursury’s own greenhouse. This space is intimate and brimming with Grelen’s potted plants and blossoms. Although this is the smallest of the ceremony spaces offered, it is fully covered and serves as an excellent option during inclimate weather or colder months.

The Love Lawn

Similar to the Berry Lawn, the Love Lawn offers a sprawling backdrop of rolling hills that is well set to accommodate a larger crowd. Couples here embrace lush greenery in the background rather than vibrant florals.

Reception Spaces

Market at Grelen wedding clients can celebrate late into the night in the stunning, clear Overlook Tent under the Virginia sky. With a capacity for 250 seated people, the tent is adorned with glowing lights and chandeliers and side panels that can open or close depending on the weather. This is a breathtaking reception venue that allows guests to see the sunset, soak in the peaceful atmosphere, and celebrate the newlyweds.

Grelen Orchard Sunset Portraits

As mentioned in the “What’s Included” section above, the venue staff offers to take the newlywed couple along with the photo and video team out into the orchards overlooking the valley and venue for the most astounding sunset portraits. The venue has a mid-sized golf cart that can fit 4-5 people, and the drive out is short. On the way, the passengers can take in the breadth of plants grown throughout the property, see a small creek winding through the middle of the property, and enjoy the slow climb to a high point on the hills.

In the orchards, we embraced early spring blooms amongst the trees while the couple had some alone time overlooking the valley. It was the perfect way to finish up the formal portraits of the day before the dance floor opened up.

Highlights around the Venue

As you’ve already seen, the Market at Grelen is brimming with florals and greenery. Since I was there in late April, I got to enjoy the magnificent, weeping wisteria that covered a long pergola. Guests mingled here and queued in line for a bar at the end of the walkway.
